    Stress and Late Night Worrying

    For those that have not suffered from financial problems it is difficult to understand the array of emotions that debt problems deliver to the person suffering from financial difficulties.

    I am a Senior Advisor at the Debt Advice Ireland office and recently I have noticed the increase in the number of calls we are receiving from clients who have their mortgages with a the adverse lender Start Mortgages. It would appear that customers who have faced a change in circumstances, perhaps a reduction in income or loss of employment, a period of absence from work due to illness or a separation or divorce, and who also have their present mortgage with this lender and who also may have missed a month or two of their mortgage payments may be facing the horrendous prospect of having their homes repossessed.

    I am a Senior Advisor at the Debt Advice Ireland office and every day I speak with lots of genuine and concerned clients who are trying to be pro active about their financial circumstances and put a strategy in place to deal with things hopefully before the events take a turn for the worse.

    My main duty as an account manager is to liase with client’s creditors and get them to accept a debt repayment plan based on what my client can afford to pay.

    Today the England and Wales cricket board has announced that it has renewed its contract with Sky Sports to show live game up to 2013.

    In very basic terms the debt repayment plan is designed to relieve the debtor of the need to deal direct with their creditors, it is my role as an account manager in the  debt advice team to act as the go between our clients and their creditors.  We receive an agreed monthly payment from the client then make negotiated pro rata payments to their creditors.

    Today I had the pleasure of working on behalf of a client who lives in Roscrea and who has a significant loan with G E Money which she took out roughly 2 1/2 years ago and was making the contractual payments to this account and her other creditors until a down turn in her business meant a much reduced income.
